Original Halloren Kugeln Stracciatella

Cream-filled chocolate balls Β· Halloren Β· Chocolate & candy Β· East Germany

must-try

Why it's worth it

Halloren, from Halle an der Saale, is Germany's oldest chocolate factory, and its Kugeln have been the best-known product since 1952, one of the few sweet treats widely available in the DDR. The round pralines have no Czech shelf equivalent and carry a strong East German nostalgia that makes them a genuine local find rather than an import lookalike.

Taste

Round chocolate domes with a soft, creamy stracciatella filling in a thin chocolate shell; sweet and rich, marshmallow-to-marzipan texture
