Averna Amaro Siciliano
Herbal bitter liqueur · Averna · Beer & spirits · Sicily
Why it's worth it
Averna has been made in Caltanissetta since 1868, from a recipe credited to the herbalist monks of the San Spirito Abbey, and it is Italy's best-selling amaro. It is a softer, sweeter, more citrus-and-coffee style than the aggressively bitter alpine amari, sipped neat as a digestivo or long with soda. Rare on Czech shelves outside specialty liquor stores, so a genuinely Sicilian bottle to bring home. For adult travelers.
Taste
Dark, syrupy Sicilian amaro (29% ABV); bittersweet and mouth-coating with bitter orange zest, liquorice, mocha and rosemary, a long herbal-citrus finish

No CZ analog; closest cultural cousin is a bittersweet herbal digestif like Becherovka, but Averna is a softer, citrus-and-coffee Sicilian style
