San Carlo 1936 Antica Ricetta

Wavy potato chips · San Carlo · Salty snacks · Milan

7/10worth it

Why it's worth it

San Carlo's 1936 line traces back to the Rosticceria San Carlo that opened in Milan that year and became famous for its slow-cooked crispy fries. The chips are cooked at different temperatures for a thicker, wavier bite than the mainstream export chips on Czech shelves, and San Carlo itself is not a Czech supermarket brand. A genuinely Italian potato-chip buy rather than an import staple.

Taste

Wavy, thick-cut potato chips slow-cooked at different temperatures; deeply golden, very crunchy, with a clean, homemade-style crispness

If you know Czech shelves

Czech thick-cut potato chips are the category cousin, but San Carlo's slow, multi-temperature cooking gives a distinctly wavier, crunchier bite
