Wawel Kasztanki (Cocoa-Wafer Chocolates)

Cocoa-wafer filled chocolates · Wawel · Chocolate & candy · Kraków

must-try

Why it's worth it

A signature of Kraków's Wawel (confectioner since 1898): smooth dark chocolate over a cocoa-and-crushed-wafer filling. It is a beloved Polish everyday chocolate rather than a Czech shelf item, and its cocoa-wafer character sets it apart from ordinary pralines.

Taste

Dark dessert-chocolate shell over a cocoa-cream filling studded with crunchy wafer bits; slightly dry, cocoa-forward, not overly sweet

If you know Czech shelves

No direct CZ analog; closest is a wafer-filled chocolate such as Fidorka, but Kasztanki is a cocoa-cream praline
